According to Nigeria's "priority times" reported on November 3rd, Nigeria President Buhari has approved the extension of the border until January 31, 2020.

Dimka, director of the Nigeria Customs General Administration, announced the contents of the memorandum of understanding and issued relevant departments. The customs and Excise Department of Nigeria said that despite the great success of the "border closure" operation, especially for the security and economic interests of the country, there are still some strategic objectives to be achieved.

Some Nigerians criticized the border embargo, saying it affected the trade commitments between the government and West African countries and ACFTA, and also led to higher prices of imported products.

Since its closure, Nigeria customs has announced increased revenue. NNPC, a state-owned oil company, also reported that Nigeria smuggled gasoline to overseas.
