According to an article published on July 29th by the Swiss times, Adidas, the world's second largest sports shoe manufacturer after Adidas, intends to pfer some of its production in China to countries with lower labor prices, such as India (the first factory has started), Kampuchea, Laos, Vietnam and some other countries in the former Soviet Union.

The wages of Chinese cities increased by 20% in the first half of this year.

One pair of Adidas's sneakers is produced in China.

The German giant, who owns 4000 stores in China, plans to open another 2300 stores from now until 2010.

Over the past 3 years, 3 new chain stores have opened in China every day.

Despite the rapid pace of expansion and the strong desire for growth, Adidas chose to choose another cheap production at a special moment (10 days from the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games).

The German group has recently been exposed by the "Play Fair" campaign.

The campaign announced that the German sports giant, including Adidas, Nike, Alex, Puma and other German sports giants, could not maintain their living wage.
