Footwear Imports In Brazil Have Increased Significantly

According to the statistics of Brazil Footwear Association, Brazil imported 7 million 300 thousand pairs of shoes in the first two months of 2008, an increase of 103.2% over the same period, including 6 million 464 thousand pairs from China, accounting for 88.5% of the total imports. The total import value was 52 million 200 thousand US dollars, up 84.8% from the same period last year, of which 38 million 500 thousand US dollars were imported from China, accounting for 73.7% of the total imports.

In the same period, Brazil shoes exported 39 million pairs, an increase of 12.7% over the same period, and the export value was $368 million, an increase of 6.1% over the same period last year.

The main export markets are: the United States, Britain, Italy and Argentina.
