The Latest Domestic Standards For Infant Textiles

The quality of infant products has always been the focus of attention. Textiles, as one of the daily necessities of infants and young children, have been concerned and valued by the relevant textile manufacturers and consumers.

Now related to infant textiles in China.

1. GB 18401-2003 "technical specification for basic safety of national textile products"

This standard is the national compulsory standard, stipulates the basic of textile products.

For infants and young children (aged 24 months or less), the textiles used for infants and young children under 80cm and below can be used as infant products. They should meet the technical requirements of class a products.

Infants and young children must use the standard "baby products" on the instructions.

The test items include: water fastness, color fastness to perspiration, color fastness to dry friction, color fastness to saliva, formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, and decomposable aromatic amine dyes.

Compared with other types of products, this product has increased the test of saliva color fastness.

2. FZ/T 73025-2006 "infant knitted dress"

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, size specifications, requirements, test methods, decision rules, product instructions, packaging, pportation and storage of infant knitted apparel products.

It is suitable for knitting knitted apparel products made of knitted fabrics, including underwear, jacket, pajamas, body fitted, socks, foot covers, hats, bib, belly, gloves, sleeping bags, scarf, bedding and so on.

Among them, the limitation of age is different from that of GB 18401-2003, the basic safety technical specification for national textiles. It is knitted goods used for infants under 36 months or below 104cm height.

The internal quality requirements in the standard are divided into two grades: superior grade and first class product.

The technical requirements for class a products in GB 18401-2003 only meet the quality requirements of the first grade products of this standard, so the quality of textile products needs further improvement.

3. FZ/T 81014-2008 "infant clothing"

The standard has its own particularity, the standard itself is recommended standard, but 4.1 of the standard (the use instructions of finished products should comply with the requirements of GB 5296.4 and GB 18401, label dry cleaning on product labels), 4.11 (formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, decomposable aromatic amine dye, extractable heavy metal content and dry rubbing fastness, color fastness to water, color fastness to perspiration, and qualified requirements for saliva color fastness) are mandatory provisions.

Compared with GB 18401, this standard will increase the content of heavy metals extracted into mandatory testing items.

The standard specifies the terms and definitions, size specifications, requirements, inspection (test) methods, inspection classification rules, and technical features of signs, packaging, pportation and storage of infant clothing products.

It is suitable for infant clothing and suitcase made of textile woven fabric as the main raw material.

Infant clothing products can be implemented in accordance with this standard.

This standard, as a supplement to woven products in infant textiles, is used in conjunction with FZ/T 73025-2006 "infant knitted apparel", which basically covers all the infant textiles used for daily use.

In addition, infant textiles should also comply with the basic principles, marking contents and labeling requirements of the instructions for use in GB 5296.4-1998 "instructions for use of textiles and clothing for consumer goods", as well as the label requirements, marking principles, presentation methods, allowable deviations, and determination of conformity of FZ/T 01053-2007 "textile fiber content identification".

In recent years, the intensity of textile monitoring has been strengthened year by year, but the relevant data disclosed are still not optimistic.
