Fujian Helps Enterprises Cope With EU'S "REACH"

Fujian quality supervision departments and foreign trade and economic cooperation departments have conducted various related publicity and training programs to export enterprises in this province for a long time, helping export enterprises actively respond to the EU's chemicals management regulations, "registration, assessment, authorization and restriction of chemicals", which will take effect officially in June and will be formally implemented in June next year (REACH).

Reporters learned from the Fujian Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau that the "REACH" regulation is only a chemical bill, but it will have a greater impact on almost all Fujian's exports to EU products. This regulation stipulates that products such as household appliances, textiles, clothing, footwear, toys, electronics, automobiles and other products must be registered when they enter the EU market, otherwise the products will not be able to enter the EU market.

Last year, Fujian's total exports to the European Union amounted to $7 billion 969 million.

Among them, the products directly related to chemicals that are most affected by the "REACH" regulations currently have 245 export enterprises in Fujian. Last year, the value of export related commodities to the EU was valued at US $185 million.

According to trade experts estimate, with the implementation of the EU "REACH" regulations, the registration and evaluation of chemical substances will generate a lot of expenses, resulting in an increase in the cost of chemicals downstream products in Fujian by more than 5%.

Exports of other related products will also be subject to stricter restrictions.

The Fujian provincial government attaches great importance to the impact of the "REACH" Regulations on Fujian's exports. The Fujian foreign trade and Economic Cooperation Department and the Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau have promptly studied the countermeasures, strengthened the training and study work of the EU regulations on export enterprises, and hired experts to carry out thematic training for enterprises.

The two offices authorized the relevant units to edit and publish "Fujian province's propaganda materials to deal with EU REACH regulations and EUP directive" and distribute them to export enterprises concerned free of charge.

Two Hall offices have also recently established the "Fujian province to deal with the EU REACH regulations and the EUP directive online information platform", to guide enterprises to be familiar with the rules and regulations application procedures.
